A big hello to everyone out there in cyberland! I just realized that we are WAAAY past due for an update on this blog. Please accept my apologies but life has been crazy lately and we rarely find a second to stop and take a breather, much less update our blog.
So, what is going on the lives of Anne and Jason you ask? Here is a brief synopsis:
1) Despite layoffs going on at Humana (dramatically announced this week) it appears that Jason's job is safe for the foreseeable future. Thanks for all of your concern and we will do our best to keep everyone posted if the situation changes.
2) My job doing document review continues and I absolutely love it. Despite some recent stresses, I honestly believe that document review is where I belong in the legal world and hope to make a long term career out of it.
3) All of the kitties are doing well. Mia has had some issues with allergies for as long as we have owned her and we finally were able to get her tested thanks to a new blood test and we are now able to give her a weekly allergy shot (at home) instead of quarterly steroid injections which is much safer, healthier and less stressful for Mia.
4) We quietly celebrated the New Year at home and loved how low key the entire celebration was. We celebrated Valentine's Day with a wonderful lunch at Mojito's, a BOGO sundae at Graeter's, and the purchase of a brand new dishwasher. Woot!!
5) We are down to 1 living fish. Despite all the odds (i.e. he survived being born, Hurricane Ike, the ice storm, and moving to the new house) he continues to plug along and has a healthy appetite. We would get him a new tank mate but African Cichlids are quite aggressive and don't take to kindly to other fish. Supposedly they can live with other cichlids but I am still convinced that he killed off his 2 brothers so I am afraid to risk putting another cichlid in with him since they are not cheap. Therefore, he will probably live out the remainder of his fish life in solitude.
6) We are still loving our new house and trying to make small changes as finances allow. So far it has just been a few faucets here and there and some peel and stick flooring (and of course my new dishwasher!!) but eventually we hope to do some hardwood flooring, painting, and finish part of the basement to truly make it our own.
7) I am currently training to walk the mini-marathon. It is a HUGE time commitment but I think it will be worth all of the effort. Wish me luck because tomorrow I will walk 8 miles for the first time.
8) For Lent I have given up soda entirely. Let me tell you, it has been a long 3 days. Say a prayer for me that I can survive until Easter because I really need to kick my soda habit.
Other than that, we don't have much other news. We will try to keep you all up to date but no promises because things are so busy.
