I need to get better at this whole blogging thing....

So its been a year again ... opps!  I really need to try and blog on more than an annual basis but, for now, this is the best I seem to be able to do.  So, since last year we have had some major changes in the Frye household, or at least one major change and his name is Milo.  Our first child, Milo Isaac Frye was born at 1:25 am on Monday, August 20, 2012. He was 6 lbs, 3 ozs and 18.5 inches long.

After Milo made his appearance life has changed drastically and it has been a wonderful ride for the last (almost) 8 weeks.  We are finally settling into a routine and Milo is gaining weight like a champ.  Here are some more pictures of our new addition.  More to come as her grows :)

Milo rocking his preemie sized onesie

I love this outfit and am so sad he has outgrown it.

Happy Halloween!

Just like Daddy.

I love it when Mommy works from home with me on her lap.

Time for my annual blog post ....

Alright, so I have learned I am not so good at this whole blog thing. That being said, here is a quick update on us in the last year:

1) Jason and I are both still working for the same companies. Jason got a promotion and is super busy and important (at least that is how I perceive it) and I am still reviewing documents with my super awesome work crew.

2) This year we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary!! We spent that night at the Admiral Bicknell Inn in New Albany and had a wonderful dinner at the River City Winery. Despite only going to New Albany we felt we were on vacation because it was so hard to get there now that the Sherman Minton bridge is closed indefinitely for structural repairs.

3) Our cats are doing as well as possible considering that they are all aging. We put them all on a strict diet since Cammy wasn't losing weight on a free feed of diet cat food and she has officially dropped 1.5 pounds and is now only 18.5 pounds. Mr. Bigg on the other hand started to wither away to nothing. He dropped to 13 pounds very quickly and it was not because of the diet but because he has developed diabetes in his old age. After diagnosis we are giving him 2 insulin injections a day and feeding him special food to help regulate his diabetes. So far he seems to be improving but it is a hit and miss type thing with the treatment while we try to discover his "sweet spot" for perfect cat blood sugar.

4) We are still the proud owners of the same fish. He continues to plug along each day and he survived a case of hole in the head disease (seriously he had a hole in his head). At this time his is officially 3 year old and very hearty and quite large. Since I am still convinced he killed his siblings I refuse to get him a fellow tank mate so he continues to live in solitude.

5) We still LOVE our house. This year we got all new windows and are debating what project to take on next. I am thinking flooring but we also have an unfinished basement that is begging to be Jason's man cave.

6) My sister got married in June and my brother is getting married in May 2012. Yay!

That is all for now! As more things happen I will try my best to update everyone.

Where have we been?

A big hello to everyone out there in cyberland! I just realized that we are WAAAY past due for an update on this blog. Please accept my apologies but life has been crazy lately and we rarely find a second to stop and take a breather, much less update our blog.

So, what is going on the lives of Anne and Jason you ask? Here is a brief synopsis:

1) Despite layoffs going on at Humana (dramatically announced this week) it appears that Jason's job is safe for the foreseeable future. Thanks for all of your concern and we will do our best to keep everyone posted if the situation changes.

2) My job doing document review continues and I absolutely love it. Despite some recent stresses, I honestly believe that document review is where I belong in the legal world and hope to make a long term career out of it.

3) All of the kitties are doing well. Mia has had some issues with allergies for as long as we have owned her and we finally were able to get her tested thanks to a new blood test and we are now able to give her a weekly allergy shot (at home) instead of quarterly steroid injections which is much safer, healthier and less stressful for Mia.

4) We quietly celebrated the New Year at home and loved how low key the entire celebration was. We celebrated Valentine's Day with a wonderful lunch at Mojito's, a BOGO sundae at Graeter's, and the purchase of a brand new dishwasher. Woot!!

5) We are down to 1 living fish. Despite all the odds (i.e. he survived being born, Hurricane Ike, the ice storm, and moving to the new house) he continues to plug along and has a healthy appetite. We would get him a new tank mate but African Cichlids are quite aggressive and don't take to kindly to other fish. Supposedly they can live with other cichlids but I am still convinced that he killed off his 2 brothers so I am afraid to risk putting another cichlid in with him since they are not cheap. Therefore, he will probably live out the remainder of his fish life in solitude.

6) We are still loving our new house and trying to make small changes as finances allow. So far it has just been a few faucets here and there and some peel and stick flooring (and of course my new dishwasher!!) but eventually we hope to do some hardwood flooring, painting, and finish part of the basement to truly make it our own.

7) I am currently training to walk the mini-marathon. It is a HUGE time commitment but I think it will be worth all of the effort. Wish me luck because tomorrow I will walk 8 miles for the first time.

8) For Lent I have given up soda entirely. Let me tell you, it has been a long 3 days. Say a prayer for me that I can survive until Easter because I really need to kick my soda habit.

Other than that, we don't have much other news. We will try to keep you all up to date but no promises because things are so busy.

Anointing of the Sick

Alright, so I am going to get all religious on this blog..... which I promise not to do on a regular basis because I loathe it when people try to force religion upon us. That being said, I must say that I truly love being a Catholic and as I grow older the many beautiful facets of the faith become more obvious to me.

In my opinion, one of the most amazing Catholic sacraments is the Anointing of the Sick. Fortunately, I have never been sick enough or about to undergo major surgery that an anointing was necessary. However, as some of you know, my grandmother (my mom's mother) in Cleveland has been very sick for a long time at this point. A few days ago she developed an infection that has spread throughout her body and was admitted to the hospital. Upon admittance it was discovered that she also has a blockage in her abdomen which requires surgery. Clearly, in her state, surgery is not an option and after speaking to Mom a few moments ago at they are giving her hours to live instead of days.

My grandmother is and always has been a devout Catholic. In fact, she and my grandfather our some of the most devout Catholics I have ever known. I know that when my grandfather passed it was great comfort to my grandmother that he received the Anointing of the Sick prior to his death. Now, my grandmother has received the anointing as well. Even more special for her is that her brother, Father Mitchell (aka Tutti), was able to administer the anointing.

Even without communication I can guarantee everyone reading this that my grandmother was able to feel some peace after her anointing because God's grace was made present in her life and brought to the forefront of her vision at that moment despite her continuous pain and struggle for the last several years.

If you are interested in more information about this particular sacrament there is a great explanation to be found here:

It truly is difficult to put into words how amazing I believe this sacrament is. I will keep everyone out there posted on my grandma's status.

Back again

So, I finally have worked up the nerve to make this post.... and it has only taken a little over 2 months. As most of you are aware I am a total wuss and never did make it to Ireland due to a total plane freak out. On a positive note though, Jason was able to continue on without and have the trip of a lifetime.

Let me update you all on life here in the Ville. Summer is quickly coming to an end and Jason has already started back to school so I am on my own again on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The last few weeks we have been battling with the home warranty company about our broken air conditioner. Long story short we are getting a new compressor and capacitor but it apparently came over on a barge across the ocean and then was driven across the country at 10 mph to get here. By the time our ac is truly up and running again it will be time for heat instead. I'll keep you posted about the progress with the ac but hopefully we will be up and running again on Monday.... when the high here is supposed to be a whopping 74 degrees. Oh well!

Other than the ac fiasco there really isn't much news on the home front. We are still loving our new house and it is truly starting to feel like home. Sorry again to all for the long time with no posts. I will try my best to be more diligent about posting in the future!

Vacation

So, long time and no post...sorry about that. I am officially on vacation from work and getting ready for our big Ireland trip with the family. On one hand, I am more comfortable about trip than any other trip but on the other hand, I am totally freaking out about this trip.

The comfort part comes from knowing that everything at home is going to be taken care of since Jason's parents are staying at our house all week. That means our kittens will be fed and loved, the fish will be fed and the house kept up in our absence. However, I am having a major panic attack about the whole getting to Ireland part of this trip. I am (and always have been) super terrified of flying.... it just isn't natural and then you throw the claustrophobia on top of that and I am an unpleasant flyer. Then, with that uneasiness already looming, there is the whole recent plane crash thing making me wish I had never agreed to this trip in the first place. I know that once I get there I will be so glad I made the journey, but it is going to take sooooo much to get me there in the first place I am regretting putting my husband and other family members in the position of having to deal with me.

Anyway, assuming I make it over there, we will post tons of pictures when we get home :) Wish us luck and pray for me to remain as calm as possible!!!
